The list of the best selling whiskey brands in the world is not an easy task, especially when the choice in such cases is always subjective and personally biased. According to the sales volumes, the top ten brands include seven Indian brands, mainly because of the different way they are prepared as compared to the other foreign brands. Irish whiskey, American whiskey, Scotch, Indian whiskey- all have their own place. Yet, scotch and Indian whiskey seem to have grasped most of the market.
Here’s the list of  ten top-selling whiskey brands in the world with their prices in India. This is the general judgement. Of course, it will differ person to person. Still, here you go!

10. Ballantine’s

A product of Pernod Ricard in Dumbarton, Scotland, Ballantine’s is the second highest selling Scotch whiskey in the world. The brand has seven varieties of whiskeys under its umbrella- Finest, Limited, 12 year old, 17 year old, 21 year old, 30 and 40 years old. All varieties have something exclusive to offer to their consumers. The ingredients are specially selected, 50 single malts, four single grains. The specially selected raw materials give a taste that leaves a long lasting impression on the person. The brand also sponsored the Scottish Open Golf Tournament and Australian A-League Football, 2007. This gained them more popularity. Priced a little above the average, the quality of the whiskey sells, the middle income group being the major customers. The ingredients include only a small portion of the traditional malted whiskey. The majority of the Indian whiskeys are made from molasses. It is sold to over among 7.2 million population of the world.

The highest selling American whiskey in the world, Jack Daniel’s is the manufacture of Brown-Forman. Named after its founder Jasper Newton ‘Jack’  Daniel, it has been quoted plethora of times in various songs as well as in reference to several great artists. As a matter of fact, Frank Sinatra was buried with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. The original Jack Daniel’s is the Old No. 7, famously known as Black Label. The brand has continuously been a sponsor of racing championships. The whiskey conforms to the standards of straight bourbon, but the company promotes it as a whiskey only. Original Choice whiskey is largely sold the Indian market. It is a premium whiskey brand, and can be taken with a little water, neat or on the rocks. Recently, the brand has also been in limelight for the legal controversy regarding its name being very similar to that of the brand Officer’s Choice. The bottles are packed in American Oak caskets, and the consumer enjoys a very smooth and subtle taste.

Named as ‘OC’ by its followers, Officer’s Choice is exported to 18 countries and reaches to around 16.5 million people. The brand used the platform of class and status to promote itself. The tag line, ‘Wake the officer inside you’ is an attempt to provoke the feeling of righteousness and integrity. It is considered to have the perfect of Indian malt spirits and alcohol, with alcohol content 42% approximately.

The standard blends are Black Label, Red Label Gold Label, Platinum Label. In all the packaging of these bottles, the only common and key feature is the logo of Striding Man. The Green Label blend of Johnnie Walker won three double gold medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition between 2005 and 2007.
