A Guide On Choosing The Correct Dumpster Size

Article by ,

Waste removal from your property can be extremely challenging to handle on your own. When you hire a rental dumpster to ease your tensions, your work is only half done. It is very important for you to choose the size of the dumpster you want. This seems pretty redundant, since you want to go for a generic sized dumpster anyway, but there is no ‘one fits all’ when it comes to this topic. There are a number of considerations that you have to think about before you choose a dumpster size, such as:

  1. Your budget- easily the first concern for any businessman, you cannot expect to rent a huge dumpster when your business turnover is not too promising. The first thing you should keep in mind is how much you are willing to spend on this, and look out for services which fit into the estimate.
  2. The amount and weight of the waste- the next most important consideration is the kind of waste that would need to be removed. Is your waste toxic in any way, or contains items that can cause injury? Is it liquid or solid waste? These are important to answer because the service you hire would ask you the same. At the same time, you need to have an estimate of the weight and volume of the waste; otherwise there is no way you can choose the right dumpster size.

Once you are clear on these considerations, you can start going through various dumpster sizes to understand which would suit you well. Roll-off dumpsters are available in the following sizes, which cater to different kinds of waste removal:

  1. 10 Yard Dumpster.

This is the smallest size and mainly used for small residential projects, such as household, garage, basement, attic cleanouts and interior renovations.

  1. 20 Yard Dumpster.

This is the most commonly ordered size as it is more economical compared to the other bigger sizes. They are not generally used for residential projects as they can hold up to 6 truckloads of trash. Small-scale commercial cleanouts, renovations and landscaping utilise this size.

  1. 30 Yard Dumpster.

This is used in large scale residential and commercial projects, such as complete remodelling of a building, construction of a new building, demolitions and whole cleanouts. This can hold a volume equivalent to nine truckloads of debris.

  1. 40 Yard Dumpster.

This is the largest dumpster site and is only used for very large projects and constructions as well as community events. This can hold a volume equivalent to twelve truckloads of debris. Unless you are doing a really large scale project, this will probably not even be in your list.

It is important to research about a service and enquiring about different dumpster sizes before making a decision.
